Two directions to choose from

Green Cove Springs sits on the west bank of the St. Johns River, which gives you two main ways to reach care:

  • North on US-17 through Fleming Island and Orange Park. From there, I-295 and the Buckman Bridge lead across the river to Mandarin and the Southside, or you can stay on US-17 into the Westside.
  • East on SR-16 over the Shands Bridge into St. Johns County. That road connects to I-95, which runs north to Jacksonville’s Southside and south to St. Augustine.

Because of the Shands Bridge route, programs in St. Augustine or along I-95 can be just as practical as ones in Jacksonville. Our St. Augustine page covers that side of the river.

Questions to ask on the first call

  • Which of your locations is easiest to reach from Green Cove Springs?
  • Do you serve people from Clay County, and can you coordinate with Clay County services?
  • If my loved one needs detox first, where would that happen, and where would they go after?
  • How do family sessions work, and can any be done by video?
  • What will aftercare look like back in Clay County?

Keep one page of notes per program. If two programs both fit, the drive and the aftercare plan are fair ways to choose.
