You don’t have to figure this out alone.
A calm, local guide to addiction treatment in Jacksonville, for families looking for the right level of care, not just the nearest bed.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long is rehab?
It depends on the level of care. Detox usually lasts several days to about a week. Residential programs commonly run 30, 60 or 90 days, and intensive outpatient often continues for a few months. The National Institute on Drug Abuse notes that people generally do better with enough time in treatment, so plan the whole path, including what comes after the first stop.
Does insurance cover rehab in Florida?
Usually, at least in part. Marketplace plans and Medicaid must cover substance use disorder services, and federal parity law limits how much stricter those benefits can be than medical ones. Call the number on the insurance card and ask which levels of care are covered, which Jacksonville centers are in network, and whether pre-authorization is needed.
What’s the difference between detox and rehab?
Detox helps the body get through withdrawal safely, often with medical support. Rehab treats the addiction itself with therapy, skills and sometimes medication. Detox on its own is a starting point, not treatment, so ask any detox center where your loved one goes next.
Can I make someone go to rehab in Florida?
Sometimes. Florida’s Marchman Act (Chapter 397, Florida Statutes) lets a family member ask a court to order an involuntary assessment and stabilization when a person has lost self-control over substance use and is likely to harm themselves or others, or can’t recognize their need for care. It is a legal process with strict criteria, so it helps to talk with an attorney or the Duval County Clerk’s office first.
