How Much Does Rehab Cost in Jacksonville? What Drives the Price
There is no single price for rehab, and any website that gives you one is guessing. The cost depends on the level of care, the program and your plan, and you can get a written estimate first.

Why we don’t post a number
Two people can go to the same Jacksonville program for the same length of time and owe very different amounts. One has a plan with a met deductible. The other is paying on their own. A price on a website can scare a family away from care they could afford, or lull them into a program they can’t.
So instead of a number, we’ll show you the parts that add up to the bill. Once you know them, you can ask the right questions and get an estimate based on your real situation.
What drives the cost of rehab
- Level of care. Care where someone lives on site around the clock, like inpatient detox or residential treatment, usually costs more than care where they go home at night, like PHP, IOP or outpatient counseling. See our levels of care guide.
- Length of stay. Longer programs cost more in total. Many plans approve care a few days or weeks at a time and review it as treatment goes on.
- Medical services. Medical monitoring during detox, doctor and nurse visits, lab tests and psychiatric care each add to the bill.
- Medications. Medications for opioid or alcohol use disorder may be billed through the pharmacy benefit or by the program.
- Network status. In-network programs have agreed rates with your plan. Out-of-network care can cost you much more.
- Your plan’s terms. Your deductible, copays, coinsurance and out-of-pocket maximum decide how much of the bill is yours.
- Extras. Some programs charge separately for things like private rooms, transportation or certain therapies. Ask what is included.
What to ask, by how you pay
| Ask the plan or payer | Ask the center | |
|---|---|---|
| Private insurance | Is this level of care covered at this program? What will I owe after the deductible? | Is this program in network or out of network? Can I get your estimate in writing? |
| Medicaid | Is this program in my Medicaid plan’s network? Is approval needed first? | Do you accept my Medicaid plan? Is there anything Medicaid won’t pay for? |
| Medicare | Is this service covered under Part A or Part B? What is my share? | Do you accept Medicare? Which services here are Medicare-approved? |
| Self-pay | Not applicable | Can I have a good faith estimate? Do you offer a sliding scale or payment plan? |
How to get a written estimate
Share the basics
Give the admissions team the insurance card details, the level of care being considered and the expected start date.
Ask for an itemized estimate
Ask what is included, what is billed separately and what your share is likely to be. Ask them to email it.
Compare with the plan
Call the plan and check the estimate against what they tell you. If the answers don’t match, ask both sides to explain.
Paying on your own?
The federal No Surprises Act usually requires providers to give uninsured and self-pay patients a good faith estimate.
Your rights when you pay on your own
CMS (the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) says that when you don’t have or don’t use health insurance, providers usually must give you a good faith estimate of how much your care will cost. If the final bill is at least 400 dollars more than the estimate, CMS says you may be able to dispute it. Keep the estimate in a safe place.
Before you sign, read any financial agreement slowly, and ask what happens if your loved one leaves early. Our verification questions list covers what to ask.
Rehab cost questions families ask
How much does rehab cost in Jacksonville with insurance?
It depends on your plan’s deductible, copays, coinsurance and out-of-pocket maximum, and on whether the program is in network. The plan can tell you your share for each level of care. Ask the center for a written estimate too.
Is outpatient rehab cheaper than inpatient?
Usually, because there are no overnight costs. But cheaper only helps if it fits. Someone who needs medical detox or round-the-clock support may not do well in outpatient care, so start with the right level of care.
Why did the center quote one amount and the bill say another?
Estimates can change when the length of stay changes, when the plan approves fewer days or when extra services are used. Ask for an updated estimate whenever the plan changes, and keep every written estimate.
Can we set up a payment plan?
Many programs offer one. Ask about interest, due dates and what happens if you miss a payment, and get the terms in writing before admission.
Are there low cost options if the estimate is too high?
Yes. Look at Medicaid and state-funded care and our low cost rehab guide. In an emergency, call 911. For a crisis, call or text 988.
